Beginner/Intermediate level engineer to be part of a team developing production web software of moderate complexity. Utilizes knowledge and practical experience and exercises judgment in completing assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
Position: Web Application Developer (part time, initially)

Location: Southern California Area, Los Angeles/Santa Barbara (work done remotely with occasional face-to-face)

Performs technical work requiring experience in the web applications, databases, and basic server knowledge. Is passionate about their work and able to flourish in a working in a start up culture.
Must be able to work solo on projects after being given an general task or goal. Is also able to work in a team environment when necessary to complete parts of tasks. Code will be reviewed for overall soundess of technical decisions. Architectural guidelines will be provided loosely, with plenty of room for leadership and initiative given to the individual.
Can work as part of a Scrum (Agile) team and sharing responsibility in delivering results.
Actively reviews code, reduces code complexity, familiar with automated testing.
Keeps up with technical trends, develops and incorporates them as appropriate.
Continues to improve existing designs while applying the latest standard techniques and principles to new designs.
Can work independently and seek advice/assistance when needed.
Analyzes requirements of users through their direct feedback. Collaborates with team to determine and document software requirement and design specifications for projects which will solve the true problem(s) underlying the users request.
Interested in future mentoring, training, or management of team members as they join.
Proficiency in PHP and MySQL is required
Basic understanding of Apache (or other HTTP server) configuration and administration is recommended but not required.
Basic working knowledge of Unix and Windows server administration is a plus, but not required.
Experience delivering web-based applications.
Strong working knowledge of networking and data communications is a plus.
Good understanding and experience of Scrum and Agile working methods preferred.
BS degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field is preferred, with approximately 2 years of directly related work experience. No actual work experience may be required for individuals holding a MS or higher degree in one of these fields. Equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education.
