User Interface Architect

Overview
The User Interface Designer / Information Architect will work closely with the product management and engineering team to drive the definition and design of the user experience for S&D. This includes a multi-channel strategy of web applications, mobile, and community applications. This requires envisioning the company’s social selling business model as a web and mobile-based service and leading the design of our new platform. The person who accepts this challenge will be passionate about emerging technologies, and have strong alignment with our mission to deliver a great user experience that is also compelling & elegant, i.e. style befitting Stella & Dot.
Responsibilities
Brainstorm creative concepts with the product team
Understanding of customer needs and working with product management to translate these into innovative and compelling designs
Familiarity with creating personas and customer profiles
Define UI guidelines for web, mobile, and community
Design user experience for all features including information architecture, interaction flow, wireframes, and final comps for production
Passionate about usability and creating compelling user experiences
Develop low fidelity prototypes to be used for collecting customer feedback
Iterate quickly through design options, prototyping, testing and validation
Oversee and manage external design resources
Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience designing web-based products for a consumer-oriented website as a key member of the design team
Team player with strong interpersonal skills
Well-rounded understanding of web usability best practices and cross browser compatibility issues Experience working for an on-line retailer or ecommerce company preferred (or fashion related digital media play)
Skills
Expert level skills in Adobe Creative Suite
Ability to learn new technologies and their impact on the feasibility of design solutions; such as HTML, AJAX, PHP, Flash and Flex is a plus
A strong portfolio, available for viewing, showing a good sense of design, creativity, and thought process (must include web related samples)
Ability to solicit and incorporate diverse perspectives
Ability to effectively engage and leverage peer feedback
Eye towards detail and passion for design
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver projects on time that met expectations
Nice to have - obsession with latest web and mobile ecommerce solutions (added plus if you like fashion)
Must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate our ever-changing environment
Excellent problem solving ability with high sense of urgency
Excellent written and verbal communication
Education
BA / BS in Human Factors, Information Design or other related field, and MS or equivalent preferred
