Responsibilities
Participation in design, implementation, and evolution of Topsy’s systems, interpretation, analysis, knowledge representation, and other key technologies
Collaboration with other engineers and with operations to deliver scalable, robust, and high-performance systems
Solution of hard problems
Experience
5+ years experience writing Perl (or Python, with the ability to work with a substantial Perl codebase)
5+ years experience with object-oriented development
Deep understanding of and modern web protocols and development practices
Ability to work alone and in small teams to deliver critical infrastructure
Aversion to technical debt
Skills
Practical experience with distributed computing and clustering architectures
Practical experience with development on Unix
Practical experience with database design
Broad and deep knowledge of Perl or Python and commonly used modules
Facility with puns
