Smarterer is building a platform to test and score people on digital, social and technical skills. Our mission is to give people an easy, fun, and authentic way to show the world what they know. We need a passionate full-stack developer to join us in making this big, unique vision a reality.
If you’re passionate about building an extraordinary consumer web product in a huge market, let us know!
Smarterer has had some recent press in the Boston Globe boston.com/business/technology/innoeco/2011/04/smarterer.html and you can also get some idea of our goals and direction from our blog smarterer.com/blog We’re currently in a closed alpha but we will be launching publicly very soon.
We’re a small, tight, super-efficient team. Joining now means you get to have a really big impact on the product, the company, the vision and the technology. Plus, as part of our commitment to the team, we give each new developer a budget of $4001 to spend on outfitting their space – you can get the monitor, computer, or other tools you need to make yourself productive and happy. Who we’re looking for:
An ideal fit for us would be someone with a strong passion for programming, interest in the whole web technology stack, interest in the philosophy and details of actually making web products work (deployment, testing, as well as dev management and principles) and who want to “own” big pieces of the vision and functionality. We’re very interested in people who identify themselves as “full stack” developers. This isn’t just a coding position, you’ll be a core member of the technology team, deeply involved in both the design and implementation of our technology.
We’ve got some fascinating algorithmic, technology, product and scaling challenges that will be a lot of fun to tackle. Our stack is in Python using a lightweight, open source, semi-custom framework. It’s not Django but something more akin to the original Pylons (not the newly re-defined BFG/Pylons/Pyramid combo). If you love web tech, big problems, big systems, design, products and programming you could be a good fit.
Culturally, we’re low-ego and friendly but super passionate about what we do. We’re looking for someone equally passionate and who strongly fits with the existing team. As a member of the core team, you’ll help us shape not only the technology and product but also the culture of the company.
Added bonus if you’re familiar and/or good with the following:
You’ll work with our incredibly talented technical and user experience team to create a product that delivers a profound experience to users – one in which they have fun, feel competitive, and learn – and want to tell the world about it. The product incorporates elements of gaming, competitive entertainment, education, and reputation collateral. We’re addressing a very real “pain point” in a huge space.
