Senior Accountant - mobile app startup

Overview
The Controller / Senior Accountant is responsible for the company's accounting practices and the maintenance of its fiscal records and assists with the company's financial policies and processes. This position reports directly to the COO.

Responsibilities
Manage the accuracy of day-to-day activities in accounts payable, invoicing/billing, collections, and general accounting functions
Review Accounts Payable aging reports and related activity to ensure timely approval of invoices and payments, aged transactions and credits
Acts as the escalation point for all Accounts Payable related issues, questions and disputes
Perform all Accounts Receivable duties, including: processing customer payments and following up with customers on outstanding invoices
Manage timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing of Accounts Payable
Assist in company financial planning and budget management functions
Assist with weekly accounts payable process including entering invoices, expense reports and coordinating weekly check runs
Assist with semimonthly payroll entry and reconciliations
Research and resolve any invoicing discrepancies
Manage Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable, review of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement and General Ledger
Identify cost control and containment initiatives ensuring that the business is run in a cost effective manner
Supervise the client settlement process and work with product managers to shorten cycle time and automate manual processes
Manage our vendor & client contracts, renewals, and negotiations
Support the financial close by owning supporting schedules for all balance sheet accounts, monitoring account reconciliations
Prepare budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data
Work with executive team in developing financial processes and policies and successfully implement continuous improvement processes
Skills
Active CPA certification a plus
Experience in finance and accounting in a fast growth, privately held, profitable startup and/or professional services organization
Strong knowledge of GAAP and Revenue Recognition
Commitment to quality & relentless attention to details
Clear and direct communication style
Supervisory experience managing and mentoring in an entrepreneurial environment
Education
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, management or a related field; MBA preferred
