Sales Engineer

Overview
The Sales Engineer is responsible for all technical pre-sale activity (particularly identifying specifications).
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
Provide technical sales support in sales/product presentations, product positioning and product demonstrations
Build proof of concept report templates based on customer requirements to demonstrate feasibility of the product, often requiring rapid turn around
Understand the requirements of a project from scoping, expectation setting, requirements gathering, customer signoff, general project planning, and customer success / failure reports
Discover the business drivers from an executive level, and determine how they map to the issues at the operational side
Communicate relevant information to the customer so they can see the value in the solution
Educate customers on proper use of technical support procedures
Represent the company at trade shows and other lead-generation events
Record customer information into C.R.M. data base (SalesForce.com)
Experience
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
2 or more years of sales engineering and account management experience, preferably within Small to Medium Businesses.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Demonstrated successful record of assisting Sales in consistently achieving or exceed assigned sales quota
Experience with on-demand or Software as a Service (SaaS) business model highly desired.
Proven project management capability and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal services, support, and system engineering resources.
Professional services process and statement of work (S.O.W.) definition experience.
Intermediate-level database query, data manipulation, and schema experience. Familiarity with database management, data warehouse technologies and processes, and general business intelligence domain experience. SQL or SQL-Me experienced preferred.
Business consulting and/or consultative selling experience in complex buying environments.
Excellent telephone and in person product demonstration skills. Ability to present and communicate effectively with business stake holders, technical staff, and executive leadership.
Strong business analysis skills and deep understanding of analytics and reporting measurement methodologies and supporting technologies.

Bachelor of arts or science
