Overview
The Lead Technologist works with the Founder/CEO and is responsible for defining, building, and leading the company's technology vision, product development, team, and roadmap. Initially, most, if not all, application development will be the direct responsibility of the Lead Technologist.
Responsibilities
Define technology roadmap for product deliverables.
Ability to rapidly gather application requirements and assess related delivery risks.
Ability to quickly develop specified applications independently.
Create budget and organizational chart needed to support product delivery.-
Build and provide leadership to the initial technology team.
Provide a public face and voice for the company’s technology plans.
Work with the CEO to identify new business opportunities and product lines.
Experience
Ability to thrive in a start-up culture, working as a hands-on developer and as a technology executive.
Proven ability to solve common start-up technology issues (scalability, performance, etc.).
5+ years experience as a technology decision maker for a high-traffic web company and/or venture capital-backed media company.
Demonstrated ability to build from scratch and lead a motivated technology team.
Acute product sensitivity that involves extreme primary focus on the business problem.
A passion for solving complex technology problems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to write bullet-proof functional and technical specifications.
Experience managing off-shore development teams a plus.
