We're looking for a Software Engineer to work on the server-side components of our award-winning Mint.com site. Mint.com is the world's most popular online personal finance application, which puts all your financial data in one place. Our advanced algorithms can detect patterns in your financial situation to present savings opportunities customized for you. To date, we've been named a Times Top 50 Website, one of the Top 10 iPhone apps of 2009, won 4 Webby Awards, and received the best Personal Finance Tool from Money, Kiplingers, PC World and PC Magazine.
In this role you will work closely with our architect to design and develop infrastructure components for the Mint.com application. Help the team scale the site to handle millions of additional users, update the site without any downtime and automatically recover from hardware or software failures among other things.
Some relevant technology areas include:
Persistence (we use Hibernate and MySQL)
Messaging / request-routing middleware, load-balancing features (we use JMS as our messaging backbone)
2+ years of server-side Java development experience
Interest in back-end infrastructure
Strong OO design skills, and understanding of design patterns
Fluent in SQL (MySQL experience preferred). Understanding of O/R mapping concepts and tools (Hibernate, JDO)
Good social skills and a positive attitude.
Linux or other Unix experience
BS or MS degree in Computer Science from a competitive school
Nice To Have
Basic-intermediate fluency in some server scripting language (Bash and Python preferred)
Experience with web services, XML, and standards for describing and processing XML documents.
