Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Database Architect / DBA who welcomes the challenge of big data, such as figuring out how to handle up to 3,000,000 inserts per second while simultaneously allowing responsive real-time searching, reporting, analytics over 30 day periods of accumulated data. This is a hands-on position that requires a broad spectrum of skills. This is a great opportunity to flex and grow your data expertise while offering the potential to make a huge impact.
Responsibilities
Provide thought leadership and ownership for database managements systems (DBMS) use, design and implementation
Research, evaluate recommend and/or implement tools, technologies, designs and processes to ensure a high quality product that is responsive to market needs
Provide database related technical expertise, guidance, and mentoring to product teams partnering with them to translate designs into products
Provide all supporting documentation such as entity relationship diagrams, data models, data flow diagrams and other metadata definitions
Actively participates in the development life-cycle process
Manage the relationships with database product vendors
Manage database deployments, upgrades and continuous performance monitoring
Provide 3rd-level customer support as and when required
Experience
Very strong database background - particularly OLAP/data warehousing
Strong logical and physical data design skills
SQL - especially complex queries
Exposure to large-scale database environments
Experience with NoSQL
Experience with Linux
Vertica expertise (or other similar column-oriented DBMS) is a major plus.
Knowledge of network security is preferred
